Car Manufacturer Recalls Over 1.2 Million Ram 1500 Vehicles #

Car manufacturer Stellantis is recalling more than 1.2 million Ram 1500 vehicles due to a software malfunction in the anti-lock brake system (ABS), according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The vehicles being recalled include certain 2019, 2021-2024 Ram 1500 trucks. Stellantis stated that a routine review of customer feedback led to the discovery of a software issue that could disable the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system in these vehicles.

Stellantis confirmed that the foundation brake function would not be affected if the ESC disables. However, the ABS, ESC, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning indicator lights would illuminate upon vehicle start-up to indicate that these systems are unavailable.

Dealers will provide a free software update for the ABS to affected vehicle owners. No injuries or accidents related to this issue have been reported.

This recall follows a previous recall in June that affected nearly 158,000 Ram 2500 pickups.
